About

Founded in 1977, the Women’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas (formerly Texas Family Planning Association) is a membership organization of non-profit agencies that provide reproductive health care. Its membership includes Planned Parenthood affiliates, health science centers, hospital districts, health departments, community action agencies, and non-affiliated clinics that together serve over 800,000 low-income women.

WHFPT is dedicated to:

• promoting voluntary family planning services for all Texas women and preserving their reproductive freedom
• promoting responsible sexuality education as an essential element in Texas public school curricula
• advocating for the availability and provision of high quality, affordable and accessible reproductive health care for all the citizens of Texas
  ensuring access to reproductive health care through lobbying, education and professional training
• providing leadership and information to the public and to its membership

The Women’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas has been at the forefront of the battles for increased funding for family planning and reproductive health care, reproductive freedom, responsible sexuality education, and confidential adolescent health services in the state of Texas. We ensure that local, state, and national legislators and leaders hear the voices of family planning providers and their clients. We also teach these providers how to advocate for their services on a grassroots level and help them improve the quality of care they provide their clients.

The Women’s Health and Family Planning Association of Texas combines careful public policy research, passionate advocacy, and varied professional education programs to improve the health of and well-being of women and their families throughout Texas.
