Our Staff

Peggy Romberg, the Executive Director, has led WHFPT since 1980. Prior to joining WHFPT, she was the Executive Director of the Texas Abortion Rights Action League. Ms. Romberg’s extensive experience in lobbying and public affairs has made her a well-known figure on the Austin political scene. In addition to representing WHFPT in meetings with policymakers, before state regulatory agencies, and in the media, she also researches and develops WHFPT position papers, fact sheets, newsletters and brochures.

Ms. Romberg’s commitment to public service has led her to hold leadership positions with numerous organizations including the National Advisory Board on Access to Reproductive Health Care, the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association, People First!, Planned Parenthood of Austin, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She has received many awards, including the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association President’s Award for Outstanding Service, Texas Women’s Political Caucus’ Good Gal Award and 1988 Woman of the Year, and Lilith Fund’'s 2006 Reproductive Equity Award, in addition to being nominated to the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame.
